Elena Sulleiro

She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valencia and obtained her PhD from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She specialized in Clinical Microbiology at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona. Since 2008, she has been Head of the Parasitology and Imported Infections Diagnosis Unit within the Microbiology Department at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, where she has promoted the implementation of new diagnostic techniques for imported diseases, including schistosomiasis. She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics and Microbiology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a member of CIBERINFEC, part of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III. Her work focuses particularly on the microbiological and parasitological diagnosis of imported diseases.
