The meeting is aimed at healthcare professionals involved in the treatment and follow-up of patients with multiple myeloma, particularly those involved in the prevention and management of its infectious complications.

Information

Multiple myeloma is associated with a significant risk of infectious complications from diagnosis, driven by disease-related immune dysfunction as well as patient- and treatment-related factors. As therapeutic strategies evolve, particularly with the incorporation of T-cell–engaging bispecific antibodies and CAR-T cell therapies, the management of secondary immunodeficiency and infection risk has become increasingly complex.

The meeting will address this scenario from a multidisciplinary perspective, integrating updates in multiple myeloma treatment with the identification, prevention, diagnosis and management of infectious complications. Particular attention will be given to risk assessment throughout the different stages of treatment, as well as to complications such as cytopenias, hypogammaglobulinaemia and infections associated with T-cell–redirecting therapies. Current recommendations for infection monitoring, prophylaxis and management will also be reviewed.

The meeting will provide healthcare professionals with an opportunity to update their knowledge and explore a more individualised and comprehensive approach to infection prevention and secondary immunodeficiency in patients with multiple myeloma.
