Noemí Párraga

Noemí Párraga is a senior postdoctoral researcher focused on the field of environmental microbiology and public health. She has been working since 2013 at the Germans Trias i Pujol Institute, Badalona, in the Clinical and Environmental Infectious Diseases Group (CEID). Dr. Párraga is a member of the Water Committee of the Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, a member of the Biosecurity Committee of the IGTP, and a member of the European Study Group on Legionella Infections.

She is a microbiology researcher with extensive experience working with Legionella, as she is responsible for GELeg (Legionellosis Study Group). Thanks to a project funded by the Carlos III Institute (PI16-01347), she initiated research on environmental biocides against Legionella. In 2022 and 2023, she signed collaboration agreements with two companies. These agreements highlight her research capacity and innovative ideas, as well as strengthen her path towards leadership in workgroups. She has published 15 manuscripts with an h-index of 7 and a total of 111 citations. She has experience supervising students: 9 Master’s students and two ongoing doctoral theses.

Currently, her research is focused on addressing public health from the perspective of describing and detailing spaces free from microbiological contaminants and their relationship with climate change.
