The International Human Microbiome Consortium (IHMC) Congress is a major scientific event that takes place every two years. The IHMC was founded in 2008 by an agreement between the DG for Research and Innovation of the European Union and the National Institutes of Health of the United States and is supported by major public research funding agencies around the world (Europe , United States, China, Japan, Canada, Australia, etc.).

The Congress program includes the latest scientific advances and a variety of activities of interest to high-level researchers, clinical professionals, academics and industry. This will be the eighth edition of the IHMC Congress and it will be held virtually.

The IHMC Congress was created to generate a shared comprehensive data resource that enables researchers to better understand the human microbiome; In this way, the congress promotes the exchange of data and the creation of networks between research groups and involves them to find collaborative health solutions.

The opening day of the Congress, Sunday June 27, coincides with World Microbiome Day. To celebrate this day, a variety of activities will be organized and open to the general public to expand their knowledge of the microbiome and its effects.
