The conference is designed for healthcare professionals and researchers involved in the care, study, and management of people aging with HIV. The primary audience includes infectious disease specialists, HIV clinicians, epidemiologists, and biomedical researchers with an interest in aging and comorbidities.
As people living with HIV age, addressing their long-term health needs requires an integrated, multidisciplinary approach. The program will explore the epidemiological, social, biological and clinical dimensions of aging, examining the role of chronic inflammation, cellular senescence, epigenetic clocks and age-related comorbidities. It will also address clinical challenges including frailty, cancer, vaccination, antiretroviral therapy, polypharmacy and ChemSex, alongside the specific needs of women and transgender people.
The workshop will also examine ageism, social determinants of health and the contribution of community organizations to person-centred care. Through interdisciplinary discussion, participants will review current approaches and priorities for improving health, functionality and quality of life in older people living with HIV.
