Carmen Collado
Maria Carmen Collado is an Agricultural Engineer (2000) and holds a degree in Food Science and Technology (2002) from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). In January 2005, she obtained her Ph.D. from the UPV and was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. Her postdoctoral stage took place at the Functional Food Forum (FFF), University of Turku (2005-2007) in Finland, and at the Complutense University of Madrid (2007). She is currently a Scientific Researcher at the CSIC in the Lactic Acid Bacteria and Probiotics Group at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA-CSIC). Since 2007, she has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Turku (Finland).
Her work focuses on establishing associations between human microbiota, nutrition, and health in the maternal-infant dyad. Currently, her research is centered on studying microbiota, host-microbiota interactions, and factors influencing this interaction (nutrition, antibiotics, etc.) and their role in human health.
