Amanda Rodríguez-Urrutia

She works as a specialist physician at Mental Health Department at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital since 2007. She is the coordinator of the Treatment-resistant depression programme ans she leds tha Brain-Inmune-Gut Unit at the same department. She did her doctorate in patients with functional and comorbid gastrointestinal disorders and mental comorbidities in 2017. Her clinical interests comprise psychosomatics and mood disorders (depression, treatment resistant depression) with medical comorbidity. The corresponding research foci are the role of the brain-immune-gut axis on depressive patients with and without medical comorbidity. To tackle these questions, she has been involved as a collaborating researcher in competitive government grants such as “Neurophysiology and digestive neurophysiology”(SAF 2013-43677-R and SAF2016-76648-R, Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness). She take part of the coordination team and WP leader on H2020- SC1-2019 DISCOvERIE project (overall budget 6.000.000€) to study the role of the brain-gut axis in the comorbidity between depression/anxiety and non-mental diseases. She passionately believe that research should be collaborative. She is a CIBERSAM researcher. She has published her first book titled “Siente lo Que Comes” (Ed. Diana, Grupo Planeta, 2022) in which she delves into the impact that food and lifestyle habits have on mental health.
