Trajectory

Concha Amador holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid, with training in Internal Medicine at Gregorio Marañón University Hospital and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at McGill University (Montreal). Completed a master’s degree in AIDS Pathogenesis and Treatment and earned a Cum Laude PhD on the epidemiology of candidemia.
Has extensive experience in HIV and infectious diseases, providing care since the early HIV epidemic in Spain. Works in the Infectious Diseases Unit of Marina Baixa Hospital, part of the national CoRIS cohort, and served as the hospital’s medical director (2016–2019).
Has held leadership roles in major Spanish scientific societies, including president of SEICV (2007–2009) and SEISIDA (2020–2022), board member of GeSIDA, and board member of SEIMC (2019–2025). Contributed to national guidelines on opportunistic infections, women’s HIV care, and HIV quality indicators.
In teaching, serves as an associate professor at the University of Alicante and participates in resident training as Head of Studies and Chair of the Department’s Teaching Committee.
