The Barcelona HPV Course delivers a clear overview of essential basic and clinical science, presenting the latest evidence on the screening, diagnosis, and management of HPV‑related lesions, with a focus on the anal canal. Its practical format equips participants to address HPV‑associated diseases effectively across diverse healthcare settings, from general clinical practice to highly specialized centers.

Fundació Lluita contra les Infeccions and Vall d’Hebron University Hospital launched the accredited workshop The Barcelona HPV Course in 2017, and it has been held annually in Spain ever since. This year marks the 10th edition of the course.

The program will begin with theoretical and practical sessions on October 5th and 6th, dedicated to anal HPV disease and its prevention. These will be followed by a plenary session on October 7th, open to a wider audience and featuring keynote presentations from renowned international experts.

Adrià Curran is a staff physician of the Infectious Diseases Department and the coordinator of the Anal Dysplasia Screening Unit of Vall d’Hebron University Hospital. He has carried out specific training on HPV anal dysplasia in HIV patients at the University of San Francisco (CA, USA) with Prof. Joel Palefsky. He is a member of the International Anal Neoplasia Society. He participates as a researcher in multiple international clinical trials and has published more than 100 articles in national and international journals and book chapters on various aspects of HIV infection, HPV and its treatment.

Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Barcelona.

He is a Colorectal surgeon, Chief of section and Professor of Surgery at General Surgery Department in the Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol and Director of School of Medicine of UAB, in Badalona (Barcelona).

He developed and extensive acadèmic career including National/International clinical trials and has been published more than 160 scientific articles in the field of colorectal surgery, most of them in anal dysplasia.
