Jorge A. Gallardo-Cartagena
Associate Researcher at the Center for Technological, Biomedical, and Environmental Research (CITBM), part of the PERU Clinical Trials Unit, affiliated with the National University of San Marcos. His specialty is Infectious Diseases, with a focus on HIV vaccines, biomedical HIV prevention, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). His research encompasses clinical trials on HIV vaccines, PrEP implementation, and innovative strategies for STI prevention.
Dr. Gallardo-Cartagena is a Registered Investigator in multiple studies within the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN), and Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally (ACTG). Additionally, he serves as Co-/Vice-Chair of various clinical trials and leads research on PrEP adherence, STI screening, and post-exposure prophylaxis with doxycycline (Doxy-PEP).
