Dolores Vilas

Dr. Dolores Vilas graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2006 and completed her specialization training in Neurology at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital (2007-2011). She then specialized in Movement Disorders at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, where she developed her doctoral thesis focused on the characterization of Parkinson’s disease associated with mutations in the LRRK2 gene, which she defended in 2016.

Since 2016, she has been part of the Movement Disorders team at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital, where she has developed several lines of research and has specifically trained in the Functional Surgery Unit. She has nearly 20 years of experience in deep brain stimulation and, more recently, in high-intensity focused ultrasound techniques guided by magnetic resonance imaging. Additionally, since 2019, she has been an associate professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
